ATLANTA – Dennis J. Kain, FACHE, has been named President of Tyler & Company. In his new role, Kain will oversee most aspects of the company including marketing, research, and strategic planning. His promotion to President is the next step in an ongoing succession plan to smoothly transition the executive search firm into the next decade and beyond.
Tyler & Company founder J. Larry Tyler, who will continue on as Chairman and CEO, says choosing Kain to take over as President was a well thought-out decision, and the logical choice.
“Dennis is a real team player with a lot of personal qualities that make him a great leader, and that was important in the determination of the person to take over as President,” says Tyler, FACHE, FAAHC, FHFMA, CMPE. “With his background in healthcare leadership, he will be able to continue to do some great things for the company. He’s willing to explore new options, and his ability to function within an organization where the founder is still active is a tremendous attribute.”
Kain’s career spans more than 30 years and includes leadership experience in healthcare operations and national consulting. He has conducted senior executive and physician executive searchers for large health networks, academic medical centers and community hospitals all over the country. Kain has previously served as vice president of a regional retained healthcare search firm, a hospital CEO, vice president of a publicly-traded healthcare management company, and a member of the Board of Directors of a national marketing company. He joined Tyler & Company in August 2000.
“This new step is not a radical change from the way things have been for the last few years,” says Kain. “We’re just continuing down a well-planned path with the overall goal of maintaining the culture and values instilled by Larry Tyler. This company is a reflection of his values and his emphasis on continued improvement of quality. That’s what sets us apart in the industry, and that’s what has made the whole interaction so exciting for me.”
Kain is a long-standing member and Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and served as the ACHE Regent for Eastern Pennsylvania. He is a former member of the American Hospital Association, for which he served as an alternate to the Regional Policy Board. Dennis has been a frequent speaker to such groups as the Healthcare Financial Management Association, ACHE Chapters and the Medical Group Management Association.
Kain holds a bachelor’s degree from Lafayette College in Easton, Penn., and a Master of Healthcare Administration from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
