Biography: Brian is one of the very first professionally qualified HR professionals. He has served in six major corporations and lived and worked in six countries, most recently in Hong Kong which has been his home for 35 years. He now based in the UK but travels frequently to China.
Brian served for twelve years in various human resource positions at two major UK corporations in mining and precious metals. In 1975, he joined Aluminium Bahrain in the Arabian Gulf, and moved to Hong Kong at the start of 1981, to become Director of Personnel Services at the Hong Kong Jockey Club. He handed over his post to a local successor in 1986 and joined HSBC as Head of Personnel where he again handed over to a local person on retirement from the bank. In June 1995, he started the human resources consulting company Renwick McCormick Maule & Tam. He is now Senior Partner Signium Greater China in Hong Kong and China, and is a Non-Executive Director of Signium UK. Brian is fluent in French, and English.
He has had extensive top-level recruitment and consulting experience both as practitioner and consultant. His personal industry working experience includes, mining, smelting and metals, construction, leisure and banking. He specialises in Public Sector and institutional appointments as well as the HR and Finance professions.
He has also had extensive top-level consulting experience both as practitioner and consultant. He is particularly interested in improving management performance within organisations, and in how to link people strategies with business objectives. Brian is well known as an excellent trainer and coach too. In his 20 years plus consulting, he has conducted top-level organisation and management reviews in a wide variety of public and private sector institutions.
Brian's interests include sailing, walking, history, antique clock repairing and using computers. He is married with four children and eight grandchildren. |
